Guimped Embroidery
GUIMPED EMBROIDERY
This consisted of cutting out various motifs in vellum and laying them upon the surface of the fabric and then embroidering the edges with gold or silver threads. It also included the attaching of very thin flattened metal plates to the surface of the material. The work can still be seen in some churches.
